Frequently asked questions.
How long will treatment be?
We base estimates of duration of care based on how long most people need to make progress on their treatment goals and other factors, like whether someone has had prior treatment or not. For some concerns (like panic or general stress), treatment can be expected to be 8-12 weekly sessions. For many concerns, the duration of care is closer to 16 weekly sessions, which is around four months. For complex concerns, duration of care could be longer. A discussion of your expected duration of care that is based on your personal circumstances, challenges, and goals will occur at your treatment planning session, which is typically your second session.
What will I need to do in order to see the most benefit?
Regular therapy attendance is important. Sessions are typically once weekly for 45-50 minutes at the beginning of treatment, reducing to less often as clients are doing better and are later in treatment. Completing between-session tasks agreed upon in your sessions (also called “therapy homework”) also helps clients see greater benefit from treatment. This is because when people dedicate time to incorporate new skills and healthy habits into their daily lives they can see the benefits more quickly. Therapy is a commitment, and we respect that time can be limited in busy schedules. We will discuss with you a reasonable weekly commitment to care and help you determine what can help you fully engage in treatment at this time.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is a confidential process. There are limited circumstances where a therapist is required to share information about your care. You can review more details on our Notice of Privacy Practices page.
Can I do telehealth sessions?
In most circumstances, you can! You must be located within Ohio and have a private place to have your therapy sessions, a stable internet connection, and a device for the video platform. Additionally, your therapist will need to determine if telehealth is an appropriate modality for your care based on your personal needs.
What if I feel like I am in a crisis?
